Feeding Dart Frogs
Complete feeding guide covering prey items, supplementation schedules, and feeding frequency.
Prey Items
Primary feeders include melanogaster and hydei fruit flies, springtails, and pinhead to week-old crickets. Larger species accept bean beetles and small isopods. Variety ensures balanced nutrition.
Supplementation Schedule
Dust all feeders with a quality calcium supplement at every feeding. Use a multivitamin with D3 once or twice weekly. Rotate between brands to cover nutritional gaps. Never skip supplementation — captive frogs cannot synthesize all nutrients from prey alone.
Feeding Frequency
Juveniles: feed daily. Adults: feed every other day or 3–4 times per week. Offer enough food that some remains after 12 hours — this indicates adequate quantity. Remove excess after 24 hours.
